Yogev Shetrit (born 1978) is a drummer, composer, and bandleader known for blending jazz with North African, Andalusian, and Mediterranean music traditions. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Musicology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Drummer’s Collective in New York City, and the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music under a full scholarship. Since the mid‑2010s, Shetrit has led the Yogev Shetrit Trio, performing original compositions that fuse traditional and contemporary styles in venues and festivals worldwide, including the International Panama Jazz Festival and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Shetrit’s music often incorporates elements from his Moroccan heritage and global jazz influences.
Shetrit was a founding member of the band Coolooloosh, which toured internationally and helped establish his early career. Over the years, he has performed with notable artists including Chuchito Valdez, Tia Fuller, Arnie Lawrence, Paulo Morello, and Kevin Mahogany, among others. His work as an educator extends to masterclasses and workshops at universities and festivals, furthering his influence as both player and teacher.
