Greg Morrow

2429

Greg Morrow is one of Nashville’s top first-call session drummers — a player known for solid “meat and potatoes” time, high energy, and musical choices that make records feel alive. He’s especially respected for how he builds big, organic groove without losing clarity, which is exactly why he’s been trusted in major blues-rock and country sessions for decades.

Morrow has collaborated extensively with blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa, working closely within the Kevin Shirley production world where feel and sound matter as much as chops. A key highlight is Bonamassa’s 2016 album Blues of Desperation, recorded in Nashville, where Morrow contributed to the heavy, powerful band sound. On that project he worked in the same album environment as drummer Anton Fig, helping shape a thick “power quartet” approach that kept the record driving and aggressive without sounding stiff. Beyond studio work, Morrow has also been part of Bonamassa-related live performances, including special shows connected to major venues such as the Ryman Auditorium.

His Bonamassa involvement also extends into side collaborations, including work connected to “Four Day Creep” with Peter Frampton and Bonamassa — the kind of high-level, musician’s-musician project that fits Morrow’s reputation as a reliable, musically grounded drummer who always serves the track.
