Clayton Cameron

2148

Clayton Cameron is a highly respected jazz drummer known for his deep swing feel, refined brush technique, and musical sensitivity. Often referred to as “The Brush Master,” Cameron has built a career rooted in traditional jazz values while remaining adaptable to modern settings.

Based in Los Angeles, Cameron has worked extensively as a sideman and session drummer, performing with artists such as Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Sammy Davis Jr., Joe Williams, Natalie Cole, and Frank Sinatra. His ability to support vocalists with taste, time, and restraint has made him a first-call drummer in jazz and big band circles.

Cameron is especially admired for his mastery of brushes, elevating the technique to a central musical voice rather than a secondary texture. His playing emphasizes swing, balance, and sound, reinforcing the importance of feel and touch over volume or complexity.

In addition to performing, Cameron is a dedicated educator. Through clinics, workshops, and instructional materials, he has passed on the traditions of jazz drumming to students worldwide, stressing listening, time feel, and musical responsibility.
