Michael Jerome

2615

Michael Jerome is one of those rare drummers who can move between roots rock, art rock, and jam-based improvisation without changing who he is — steady time, strong musical instincts, and a feel that keeps the whole band calm. He’s a working, touring drummer in the purest sense: always in demand, always prepared, always serving the song.

Born in Wichita, Kansas (Michael Jerome Moore), he’s built a long career across many corners of the rock world. He became Better Than Ezra’s drummer in 2009 and has remained a core part of their touring and recording lineup, including the album Paper Empire and the band’s later era releases. Outside of BTE, Jerome has toured and recorded widely, including extended work with John Cale and Richard Thompson, plus a deep list of collaborations that show how trusted he is by bandleaders. He’s also active in The Third Mind, an improvisational roots-rock project featuring major players from the Americana and jam scenes.

Recent activity: Jerome’s current touring schedule includes Better Than Ezra (including The 90s Cruise 2026 on January 25, 2026), plus The Third Mind dates in March 2026. He’s also remained active in Slash-related live work and releases tied to that band’s ongoing performances.

Plays: Pearl; Paiste; Vic Firth.
